Salone Satellite, Milan 2014
"The SaloneSatellite was launched in 1998 to bring together the most promising new designers from all over the world and immediately became an incubator of young creative talent. Many of the pieces presented as prototypes in previous years have gone into production, and many of the young designers have gone onto become leading figures in the industry. It’s my favorite part of the fair, and always a great place to spot rising stars. (...) These brass and reclaimed leather Candlestix can be stacked and played with when not busy holding candles – designed by Ariane van Dievoet, the designer behind Avandi."
"Josh Sims reports from Milan’s Salone del Mobile, the world’s biggest interior-design event, on the trends of tomorrow

The award was organized by Cosmit five years ago to further promote the under 35 professionals presenting their work at the Salone del Mobile in a space conceived seventeen years ago from an idea by Marva Griffin. Winning ideas were simple and intuitive featuring practical and emotional aspects (...) the Third Prize, went to the American studio Avandi for its wooden leaning ladder, Steptool, with silicone on the ends to make it non-slip.
